Our Process
At ColorPop Portraits, we make creating personalized school portraits a smooth, enjoyable experience for families and schools alike. From scheduling to receiving your finished portraits, we guide you every step of the way to ensure your students’ portraits are not only beautiful but meaningful.
-
We begin by collaborating with your school or daycare to select the best date for your school portrait session.
Our team communicates with school administrators and parents to confirm details and expectations, ensuring the planning process is easy and stress-free. We’re here to make sure everything is in place for picture day!
-
On the big day, our experienced photographers arrive early to set up, ensuring everything is ready for a smooth session.
Our approach to children’s school portraits focuses on creating an enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere.
We work closely with each child, capturing their natural expressions and personality in every shot.
Whether it’s a Pre-K graduation portrait or a fun sibling portrait, we make sure the experience is fun and comfortable for everyone.
-
After your portrait event, we carefully select the best shots and enhance them to perfection. We ensure that each portrait is clear, vibrant, and beautifully crafted, reflecting the true personality of every child.
Whether it's an individual portrait or a sibling portrait, our post-production process ensures every image is a work of art.
-
Once your portraits are ready, parents and schools can easily view their child’s gallery of poses and expressions, select their favorites and order portraits online through our gallery partner, PhotoDay.
We offer a variety of print options, including specialty products, making it simple for families to order the perfect keepsakes.
-
We take pride in fast, reliable delivery, ensuring your school portraits arrive on time and beautifully presented.
Once galleries are published, orders placed in the first two weeks will be delivered directly to the school for easy distribution. After the group ordering window has closed, all additional orders will be shipped directly to your home.
FAQs
What’s different about ColorPop than other picture day photographers?
We’re the antithesis of “cookie cutter” when it comes to childhood portraits. We prioritize capturing each child’s personality and emphasizing what makes each child special.
How do we get group pictures and staff headshots?
We’ll create a class composite for each classroom. (Think yearbook page with a portrait of each child laid out in a grid.) Those class composites and staff headshots will be delivered digitally for official school use and will be made available in galleries to purchase for personal use.
How long does picture day take?
In most cases we’ll be wrapped up by lunch so your little ones can eat, nap, and move on with their days. Depending on the size of your student body, your preferred start time, and the ability to keep the flow of students ready for photographing moving, that can vary from school to school.
What ages do you photograph?
While we specialize in early childhood (0-6 years old), we’re happy to create an incredible portrait experience for students through grade 12.
What are the space requirements for your portrait setup?
We need a minimum of 13’x15’ space, ideally with hard-surface flooring. We do require that the space is cleared of furniture, rugs, toys and educational devices when we arrive to ensure we can set up and begin photographing children on time.
How much support do you offer on picture day?
All the support! Picture day is our job, not yours, so you can expect your ColorPop Crew to lead the way to a successful and smooth event. For most schools, two crew members attend each portrait event, and we’ll direct the workflow to keep things moving through the morning.
What areas do you serve?
We currently serve Northeast Ohio from Canton to Cleveland, Northern Columbus and Greater Toledo. While we work to expand and train our team, schools outside of those locations may be put on a waitlist.
Do you offer Pre-K graduation portraits?
Of course! We can bring our white caps and gowns or you’re welcome to provide your own. Graduation portraits are taken during spring picture day.
Do parents have to prepay for portrait orders?
Heck no! We don’t buy anything without seeing it first, so we don’t expect parents to either. Allowing parents to view their portraits before purchasing gives them the chance to buy as much or as little as they want- and select the images that capture their child’s personality most authentically.
Do you offer fundraising or commission opportunities for schools?
In most cases, no. We strive to provide the best service and highest quality products while keeping prices affordable for your families and paying our staff generously. Treating a portrait event as a fundraiser undermines that goal.
